Earlier this month, 25 dogs arrived in Minnesota through a partnership between BISSELL Pet Foundation, National Mill Dog Rescue, and Ruff Start Rescue, each one stepping off transport and into the start of a new chapter

Now, they’re settling into foster homes, learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and part of a family. Some have already met their future adopters. They’re so close to the life they’ve been waiting for.

But there’s one more step before they can get there.

These dogs came from commercial breeding environments and are now in urgent need of dental care due to severe, grade 4 dental disease, the most advanced stage. This means painful infections, loose or rotting teeth, and discomfort that impacts their ability to eat and feel well. Without treatment, it can lead to serious health complications beyond the mouth.

The dogs currently needing dental care include:
Seabreeze, Jules, Lily, Aramis, Zera, Pansy, Finley, Julianna, Sassy, Lorita, Lorella, Maria, and Lucy.

Estimated total dental costs range from $7,770 to $12,300, with procedures completed by Ruff Start’s veterinary team and trusted partner clinics.

For these dogs, this is the final step. The last piece of their journey before they can officially be adopted and start their new lives pain-free, healthy, and home.
