Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a deep love and compassion for animals. Whether it was rescuing stray pets, advocating for their well-being, or simply doing what I could to help, I’ve always believed that every animal deserves a second chance at a safe and loving home. Over the years, I’ve helped my fair share of stray animals, but one experience that truly solidified my commitment was adopting my first stray cat, Maple, last year. She had been through so much—multiple sicknesses, countless vet visits—but despite it all, she fought through, and now she has a forever home with me. Recently, I also experienced a heartbreaking loss. A stray cat named Kitty, whom I had saved as a kitten and cared for as an outdoor cat, passed away. Losing her was incredibly difficult, but her memory lives on in the love I continue to give to other animals in need. That’s why I want to dedicate this run to her—in memory of Kitty and every animal that never got the chance to find a safe, loving home. That’s why I’m incredibly honored to be running Grandma’s Marathon in support of Ruff Start Rescue, an organization that works tirelessly to save and care for animals in need. Their mission to rescue and rehabilitate neglected, abandoned, and surrendered animals aligns perfectly with what I’ve always believed in—giving every animal the chance they deserve. This race is more than just a marathon for me—it’s the perfect blend of two of my biggest passions: running and animal rescue. Running my first marathon has been a major goal of mine, and being able to do it while raising funds to provide animals with the vet care, food, and shelter they need makes it even more meaningful. Every step I take in training and on race day is dedicated to the animals who are still waiting for their forever homes. With your support, we can make a real difference in their lives.
