In January 2025, my fiancée and I rescued our sweet Willow - an Alaskan Malamute, Husky, Pitbull mix from Ayla's Acres Rescue in St. Augustine, Florida. Willow had been abandoned and overlooked many times - even once returned. Today, Willow is thriving here in Minnesota, and is the joy of our lives. Rescuing Willow has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. She's taught me so much about patience, trust, and love. The growth she's shown in just one year is a testament to what's possible when an animal finally feels safe and supported. That’s why Ruff Start Rescue’s mission means so much to me. Based in Princeton, Minnesota, they work every day to give animals like Willow the second chance they deserve - to find safety, healing, and a family who will love them unconditionally. When I run Grandma’s Marathon this June, I’ll be running for Ruff Start Rescue and for every animal still waiting for their forever home. I'm hoping to raise $700 for Ruff Start Rescue, and I'd love your help getting there.
